Mac Miller - Blue Slide Park

Confession: I had only heard either slow or poppy tracks outta Mac before this album and did not understand his hype. I was wrong.

Mac actually reminds me a lot of fellow Rostrum Records artist Wiz Khalifa in his style and abilities, although Wiz is WAYYYY more into weed rap and all that. Both have the capabilities to go hard, kick up the tempo, kill the wordplay, and really make sick tracks.

Both also have the tendency to slow shit down on their recent tracks, take it easy, and not do their own abilities justice. Blue Slide Park does just that. There's about four tracks on here that have sold me as a Miller fan, they're that good. But the rest just isn't my taste and I could do without.

I'm interested to hear from Mac's older albums and especially his mixtapes as artists seem to go harder when Labels aren't breathing down their necks for singles because you can hear so much potential when he finally does give you a taste. Frick Park Market and My Team should convince you of that as they did me, and the only other tracks I grabbed were Smile Back and Man in the Hat.
